Sarachan’s practice is an inquiry into the construction of knowledges, and an invitation to pause for empathy. Working from the space of the in-between—what may be overlooked in the everyday—and obliquely revealing underlying patterns, it often takes form as public intervention, video, and installation. Gesturing towards the intimate, the alogical, and the risk and necessity of belief, it is rooted in drawing and holds influences from communal music, dance, and social organizing. In Sarachan’s layered sculptures of found image/object assemblage, her poetic reimaginings are inspired by the right-to-repair movement, the unfinished political project of dada, and the lineage of artists pursuing new (or ancient) language.

She has exhibited in St. Louis, Philadelphia, New York, Richmond, Berlin, and Florence. She has taught in Philadelphia, Morogoro, and Richmond and is currently pursuing an MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media at Virginia Commonwealth University.
